Defining My Path
Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to make a difference in the world. I was passionate about social justice and environmental sustainability, and I was determined to find a way to build a career that would allow me to tackle these issues head-on. But as I entered university, I found myself struggling to find a niche. I dabbled in different majors, taking classes in everything from political science to biology, but nothing quite clicked. Finally, in my junior year, I found my calling: I enrolled in a course called Social Entrepreneurship. This class introduced me to a new world of possibility. I learned about how businesses could be used to create social and environmental impact, and I was fascinated by the idea. I knew right then that this was what I wanted to do with my life.Building My Career
After graduating, I set out to build a career in social entrepreneurship. I started by volunteering with a local non-profit, where I honed my skills in event planning, fundraising, and community outreach. From there, I landed an entry-level job with a start-up that was working on developing sustainable food packaging. It was a small, scrappy company, but I loved the work we were doing. I learned how to navigate the world of entrepreneurship, from pitching to investors to crafting a brand strategy. After a few years working with the start-up, I felt ready to take on a bigger challenge. I landed a role at a larger, more established social enterprise called Achieved. Achieved was doing innovative work, helping businesses become more sustainable and socially responsible. I was thrilled to be part of such an impactful organization.Living My Dream
Working at Achieved has been a dream come true. I get to wake up every day knowing that the work I do is making a tangible difference in the world. I've had the opportunity to work with some amazing clients, ranging from small start-ups to major corporations. I've helped businesses reduce their carbon footprint, improve labor conditions in their supply chains, and create more diverse and inclusive workplaces. One of the highlights of my time at Achieved was working on a project with a major clothing retailer. We helped them shift their supply chain to be more ethical and sustainable, and the impact was incredible. We were able to improve working conditions for factory workers, reduce the amount of waste produced during manufacturing, and improve the quality of the clothing itself. Seeing the positive impact of our work firsthand was incredibly rewarding. Looking back on my journey, I'm amazed at how far I've come. From a lost university student to a successful social entrepreneur, I've achieved more than I ever imagined possible. I'm incredibly grateful to have found my passion and to have had the opportunity to make a difference in the world.
