Challenges:
As with any profession, teaching English comes with its set of challenges. One of the most significant challenges that I faced was engaging students who had a negative attitude towards the subject. I found that incorporating interactive activities and group discussions went a long way in maintaining the students' interest and active participation. Additionally, with the ongoing pandemic, remote teaching became the new norm. The challenge here was to ensure that the students remained engaged and motivated to learn despite the physical distance. I found that making the lessons visually appealing and incorporating short quizzes and polls helped in achieving that objective.
Strategies for Success:
Effective communication and collaboration with students and colleagues were the main strategies that I found worked best. In the classroom, I made it a point to listen to my students' concerns and address them effectively. This, in turn, helped in building a good rapport with my students, which contributed to a conducive learning environment. Additionally, regular discussions with my colleagues provided insights into new teaching techniques and methods that could be implemented in the classroom. Technology also played a key role in facilitating effective communication and collaboration. Platforms such as Google Classroom and Zoom provided an avenue for seamless interaction between students, colleagues and myself.

Teaching English is a fulfilling profession that requires constant reflection and growth. The challenges faced should be viewed as learning opportunities that will ultimately translate into better teaching practices. Incorporating interactive activities and group discussions, making lessons visually appealing, and regular communication and collaboration with students and colleagues are key strategies that lead to effective teaching.
