First Impression of the Test
The first set of the College English Test (CET-4) in December 2020 has finally been administered. As one of the most important English language proficiency tests in China, CET-4 attracts millions of Chinese students every year, and this year is no exception. The test consists of four parts: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Translation. The first part lasts around 30 minutes, while the other three parts last for 135 minutes in total, which can be quite exhausting.Analyzing the Listening Section
The Listening section is usually the trickiest part of the test for most CET-4 takers. This year's test seems to have followed the usual pattern. The topics of the conversations and speeches were varied, ranging from studies and daily routines to entertainment and tourism. However, the speed of the recordings still puts a lot of pressure on the test takers, leaving little time for them to read the questions and options. Unfortunately, the technical difficulties that have been reported in several test centers during the Speaking section have disrupted some test takers' listening comprehension as well, which is rather unfortunate.Decoding the Reading, Writing, and Translation Sections
The Reading section has always been viewed as the most challenging part of CET-4 for many Chinese students, and this year's test seems to have turned no exception. The reading materials were diverse, covering a wide range of topics such as education, history, health, and technology. However, the difficulty level of the passages varied greatly, which adds to the pressure of the test takers. The Writing and Translation sections, on the other hand, seem to have presented less difficulty compared to the earlier sections, which can be deemed as an advantage for the test takers. In conclusion, the first set of CET-4 in December 2020 has offered Chinese students yet another opportunity to test their English proficiency skills. Through an analysis of the Listening, Reading, Writing, and Translation sections, it is evident that the test has indeed been a challenging experience for most CET-4 takers, as expected. However, by doing their best and not fearing failure, these students have shown that they are not only competent in English, but also are able to succeed in the face of adversity.注:本文部分文字与图片资源来自于网络,转载此文是出于传递更多信息之目的,若有来源标注错误或侵犯了您的合法权益,请立即后台留言通知我们,情况属实,我们会第一时间予以删除,并同时向您表示歉意
